EIR Accessibility: Our Mission

Texas A&M University-Texarkana has a mission to deliver an equitable user experience for people with disabilities by providing accessible electronic and information resources (EIR) to everyone, including faculty, staff, and students. To meet this goal, we continually take measures to improve EIR accessibility.

Do You Need an Accessibility Accommodation?

Should you need an ADA Accessibility Accommodation, please contact A&M Texarkana's Office of Human Resources for assistance.

What is EIR Accessibility?

EIR accessibility means that people with disabilities must be provided the opportunity to acquire the same information, engage in the same interactions, enjoy the same services as people without disabilities, and with substantially equivalent ease of use. It means they can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with EIR. EIR accessibility provides electronic information and services in multiple ways so that communication is not contingent on a single sense or ability. Video captioning, for example, provides accessibility for deaf or hard of hearing individuals.

Conformance Status

There are system, state, and federal accessibility conformance requirements. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define designers and developers' requirements to improve accessibility for people with disabilities and help meet those requirements. WCAG defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Texas A&M University-Texarkana is partially conformant with WCAG 2 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.
