As part of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CCRSSA), Texas A&M University (TAMUT) received a total of $762,501 in Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF). In order to receive this allocation, we signed and returned to the Department of Education the Supplemental Grant Funds for Students Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent ($762,500.50) of the funds received under Section 314(a)(1) of the CCRSSA to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
During the Spring 2021 semester:
TAMUT invited, via email, 1,363 eligible students to apply for the CCRSSA HEERF. TAMUT awarded $381,002 to 380 students utilizing the awarding process developed by the Emergency Aid Grants Committee and approved by the Texas A&M University System leadership. TAMUT also used some of our allocated institutional CARES Act funds to award $238,510 to 225 eligible students. The average award for the CCRSSA was $1,003.67 and the average award for the institutional CARES Act funds was $1,060.04. We have $381,499 left to award and are currently developing a strategy to get this money into the hands of the students that need it.
