Farm Road Talent-to-Market Initiative:
In the late 1930s, the Texas Department of Transportation began developing a system of “farm to market” roads (also known as farm roads or FM roads) that stretched across counties to ensure farmers could supply Texas dinner tables with home-grown fare. Public access to a rich variety of crops became more common as a result.
Just as families and farmers benefitted from improving access to agriculture commodities, so too do households and businesses when talent is provided a pathway to the workplace. Through the Farm Road initiative, A&M Texarkana strives to bring talent to market through leveraging best-in-class labor market data for students and faculty, providing students with meaningful career preparedness experiences with local and regional employers, and collaborating with K-12, colleges, businesses, and economic development organizations to strengthen the workforce development pipeline across the “Ark-La-Tex”.
Powered by strong partnerships within the community and through implementation of cutting-edge data and technologies, the primary goals for Farm Road are to not only elevate job market analytics and experience-based learning in career and program development efforts, but to enable all A&M Texarkana graduates to secure a meaningful career and quality of life while helping meet the talent market needs in an emerging Northeast Texas region.
