A&M-Texarkana Announces New Educational Partnership with Local State Farm Agents

TEXARKANA, Texas – Texas A&M University-Texarkana and several local State Farm agents have formed a new academic partnership that will allow full time State Farm employees at local agencies to take courses at the university at a discounted rate. The partnership was officially launched with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on June 12, 2024, on the A&M-Texarkana campus.

“We are pleased to announce that a number of State Farm agents have chosen to join Texas A&M University-Texarkana as community partners,” said A&M-Texarkana President Dr. Ross Alexander. We look forward to helping local State Farm employees reach their academic goals and further their careers.”

Derrick McGary, local State Farm agent and A&M-Texarkana alumnus, said “We are excited about our new partnership with Texas A&M University-Texarkana. Providing valuable tuition discounts to our full-time team members underscores our dedication to investing in our team members’ development while also strengthening our recruitment and retention efforts within each of our individual State Farm agencies. We look forward to working with the university on this and other initiatives in the future.”

State Farm agent Jake Hambleton added, “After visiting Texas A&M-Texarkana I am very impressed with all that’s happening on campus and the plans for the future. Texas A&M-Texarkana is an asset to our local and regional community.”

Under the new academic partnership qualifying local State Farm employees will receive a discount on all undergraduate, graduate, certificate, or micro-credential programs delivered in-person, online, or through a hybrid format. The agreement also waives the standard application fee. In addition to the tuition discount, any eligible employee who is a new student at the university will receive the First Flight Scholarship, which gives the new student their first class free if they are enrolled in at least 6 hours at the undergraduate or graduate level.

Employees wishing to take advantage of the new partnership must meet the admissions standards of the program to which they apply and must remain in good academic standing.
