Hannah Dyal is from Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and graduated from Texas A&M University-Texarkana in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. She then attended UT-Austin School of Law and earned her J.D. in 2017. Hannah is currently an Equal Justice Works Fellow in the Disaster Resilience Program and a staff attorney with Texas RioGrande Legal Aid. Hannah also served as a member of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Disaster Legal Services Team from 2019–2020, working with disaster response organizations while responding to natural disasters nationwide.
Hannah provides legal services to low-income residents of counties in south and west Texas directly impacted by natural disasters, with a focus on direct representation before FEMA and the State of Texas as well as title issues for individuals seeking home repair assistance. Hannah also works to build coalitions by participating in Coastal Bend area groups involved in disaster work and in larger-scale advocacy efforts, both for Hurricane Harvey long-term recovery efforts as well as ongoing efforts focused on disaster preparedness and new responses.
“My political science classes at A&M-Texarkana provided an academic background that prepared me for the challenges of law school,” said Dyal. “Having classes and teachers that allowed for extensive direct professor-student interaction gave me a great foundation for the types of classes I encountered at law school.”
