Certification
Steps to certification after admission
- Complete required coursework with grade of “C” or above
- Pass required certification exams
- Complete the ACP Internship
- Two semesters of ED 585; one full school year
- Student is hired as teacher of record in his/her certification area and grade level on TEA intern certificate within a 100-mile radius of Texarkana in a Texas public school or TEA-approved private school
- Requirements prior to beginning the ACP internship (ED 585)
- Complete 12 SCH of required coursework with grade of “C” or above
- Pass the TExES content and TExES Science of Teaching Reading (if applicable) state certification exams
- Have the employing school district complete the Statement of Eligibility and return it to the Certification Officer
- Apply and pay for the TEA intern certificate through student’s TEAL account and complete fingerprinting
- Register for ED 585
Students will be recommended for certification with TEA after completing the above steps, completing all required coursework in the degree plan, all certification testing requirements, and applying and paying for certification through their TEAL account.
