Admissions Requirements
Admission Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 2.70 GPA (Cum or Last 60)
- Required content hours for the certification sought OR passing score on the TX PACT
- Oral Interview with ACP Director
Admission Steps:
- Apply for Admission to the University as a Graduate Non-Declared with Teaching Certification.
- Apply for admission to the Alternative Certification Program through Tk-20. A non-refundable application fee of $35 will be added to the student's account when the Tk20 application is submitted. The TEA fee is required by the Texas Education Agency. Website: https://tamut.tk20.com
- Schedule oral interview by emailing acp@tamut.edu.
- Applicants to the Educator Preparation Program and candidates for certification must meet the English language proficiency requirements currently in effect at the time of admission or certification, respectively. The new English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirements, effective January 7, 2025, are located in 19 TAC §230.11(b)(5).
- Completion of an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited institution of higher education (IHE) in the United States or one of its territories.
- Verification of a minimum scaled score that falls within the High-Intermediate level in each section on the Test of English as a Foreign Language internet -Based Test (TOEFL-iBT);
- An undergraduate or graduate degree that was earned at an institution of higher education in a country outside of the United States listed in this Figure; or
- A standard certificate issued by the Department of Education in another state where examinations for the certificate were taken and passed.
What Happens Next?
- After review of file, an offer of admittance email will be sent to those that meet all requirements. Admission Acceptance response required.
- Enroll in coursework.
