A&M-Texarkana offers two non-degree seeking Post Masters Certificates for students who already hold a master's degree in nursing from an accredited higher education institution and have at least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
Step into a dynamic role in healthcare by pursuing Family Nurse Practitioner certification. Prepare to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care across the lifespan, focusing on health promotion, disease prevention, and the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic conditions. As an FNP, you'll also assess patients, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to improve patient outcomes and make a lasting impact on your community.
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Prepare to make a meaningful difference in mental healthcare by pursuing Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification. Specialize in assessing, diagnosing, and treating mental health and substance use disorders across the lifespan. As a PMHNP, you'll also provide psychotherapy, prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, and coordinate care to support patients' emotional, psychological, and behavioral well-being. In a world where mental health challenges are on the rise, you can become a compassionate advocate and trusted provider as a PMHNP.

Can I find my own clinical rotation site?
As an M.S.N. student, clinical placement is guaranteed. If you have a specific site in mind, you can discuss this with our faculty.
How many clinical hours are required?
You will complete 780 clinical hours in the last four semesters of the program. You can finish the whole program in as little as three years.
Can I work during the program?
There are no restrictions regarding working while in the program. However, it will be important to manage your work and clinical hours carefully.
How often will I need to come to campus?
Most courses require you to come to campus three times a semester. On-campus dates are the same for all courses during the semester and always fall on a Friday. Several courses are online only.
