Admission Information

Welcome to the application process for our Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program! We’re thrilled to have you considering this rigorous journey toward becoming a physical therapist. Application for the TAMUT DPT program is completed using the PTCAS Application System found at PTCAS | Applicant Login Page Section. Below, we’ll walk you through the key steps and requirements for each of our application tracks: the Standard Admissions Track, Early Acceptance Track, Early Admissions and Portfolio Track.

TAMUT DPT utilizes holistic admission. GRE is not required. Shadowing or work hours are not required.  We understand access to physical therapy observation opportunities can be limited, especially in rural or underserved areas. For this reason, the program does not require a specific number of observation hours, ensuring a fair application process for all.

Selection Process

The selection process is comprehensive, and we evaluate each applicant holistically:

  1. Initial Screening: Faculty will review your application to ensure all program requirements are met.
  2. Admissions Day/Interviews: If you’re a competitive candidate, you’ll be invited to an interview, either in person or virtually. During this interview, we’ll assess your communication skills, professionalism, critical thinking, and understanding of the physical therapy field.
  3. Admission Decision: Final decisions are based on a combination of factors, including GPA, letters of recommendation, interview performance, and personal statement. We aim to select well-rounded, motivated candidates who are ready for the rigor of our DPT program.
  4. Offer of Admission: Accepted students will receive formal offers of admission and must submit a seat deposit to secure their place. Once accepted, students must apply separately to TAMUT. We will also maintain a waitlist in case additional spots become available later in the cycle.
