EagleLEAD Presidential Leadership Program

EagleLEAD Presidential Leadership Program

The EagleLEAD Presidential Leadership Program is a prestigious leadership development initiative designed to cultivate the next generation of civic-minded, globally aware, and innovative leaders. Through a unique, multi-year experience that integrates academic coursework, hands-on learning, and personal mentorship, EagleLEAD Scholars are empowered to make a meaningful impact on campus, in their communities, and beyond.

EagleLEAD is open to students of all academic majors and offers the opportunity to earn a certificate in transformational leadership in addition to the undergraduate degree. The ideal EagleLEAD student is someone with untapped leadership potential-someone who may not have held traditional leadership roles yet, but demonstrates curiosity, resilience, initiative, and a drive to make a positive impact on campus and beyond.

Who Should Apply?

Each academic year, 20 traditional undergraduate students are selected through a competitive application and interview process:
  • Incoming traditional students
  • Continuing traditional students with a minimum of two years remaining before graduation

Stipend: Each selected scholar receives a $1,000 annual stipend for up to three years of participation.

Program Structure

Our guiding principles are to lead self, lead others, and inspire change. Holding to this belief, each year of EagleLEAD will include academic and co-curricular activities that build upon these principles. Each year will also include significant focus on global citizenship, local action, civic literacy, community engagement, and service learning.

Year One: Personal Development

Year Two: Team Leadership

Year Three: Innovation and Impact

Year Four: Enhanced Leadership

Students may be invited to continue in Eagle Aspire, a selective senior-year opportunity for top EagleLEAD Scholars:

  • Mentorship with regional business and community leaders
  • Travel-based learning and extended leadership experiences
  • On- and off-campus events focused on applied leadership and reflection

Each fall, as a new cohort of EagleLEAD Presidential Scholars begins their journey, students from previous cohorts will step into progressively greater leadership roles. This intentional, layered approach ensures that leadership development is not just theoretical, but lived and practiced at every stage. As students advance through the program, they move from self-leadership to leading others and, ultimately, to inspiring change within and beyond the university.
