Parent and Counselor Resources
High school counselors and parents play vital roles in a student’s transition to college. This is one of the most exciting times in their life and one of the most important decisions they will make. That is why A&M-Texarkana is dedicated to ensuring both the student and the parent have the information they need to make an informed decision.
Below you will find helpful information and resources to help advise students as they begin to navigate the transition to A&M-Texarkana.
We welcome suggestions and ideas for additional resources. Please feel free to reach out if you need further information or something not provided here.

Visit Us and Take a Campus Tour
Tours are one of the most effective ways for students to get an authentic feel for the campus. We welcome individual and group tours facilitated by trained Eagle Guides, current students employed by The Office of Admissions.
For individual tours, students can book directly online using our request form.
For group tours, counselors and organizers can schedule by emailing admissions@tamut.edu.
Important Dates and Deadlines
Applications: While we do not have an application deadline and evaluate applications as they are received, we have a scholarship priority deadline of January 15th. After this date, our financial aid team will begin packaging and offering aid to new students. The earlier a student can apply, the better!
Scholarships: As mentioned above, we have a priority deadline of January 15th. The admissions application doubles as a scholarship application; therefore, there is nothing else a student needs to complete to be eligible for scholarships.
Counselor Updates & Luncheons: In September or October, we host counselor updates in Texarkana, Dallas, and Houston. These events are designed to update and educate high school counselors on the A&M-Texarkana admissions process, program updates, and more. Check with your recruiter to learn more.
Preview Days: We host preview days in the fall and spring semesters for students and parents to spend a Saturday learning all about A&M-Texarkana. For more information on our upcoming events, visit our Admissions Events page.
Housing & Orientation: Our housing application typically opens in late January/early February, and orientation registration typically begins in middle February/early April. Students must continue checking their AceMail for essential updates on these tasks.
