Texas Success Initiative
The Texas Success Initiative assessment is comprised of Mathematics, ELAR (Reading/Writing), and Essay sections. Texas law requires all entering college students to be assessed for college readiness in these subjects, unless the student qualifies for an exemption. Each student who fails to meet the minimum passing standard of the exam must be placed in a course or intervention designed to help the student achieve college readiness.
TSI Exemptions
All students taking college-level courses must satisfy TSI requirements, unless they qualify for a TSI exemption, waiver, or exception. See the Academic Catalog for a list of approved exemptions. If you are unsure if you are exempt, please contact recruitment@tamut.edu.
Fees and Requirements
The TSI exam is free for A&M-Texarkana applicants on their first attempt. To take the TSI you must have a current application to the university on file, an assigned student ID, and know which TSI Assessment(s) you are required to complete. If you are unsure, email recruitment@tamut.edu for your application status or advising@tamut.edu for your required assessments. Applicants retaking the TSI are charged $20 for single TSI sections and $40 for multiple/all sections.
Two Options for Completing TSI

Option 2 - Online proctoring at home on your own device through ProctorU
