Campus Safety Regulations
Texas A&M University Texarkana has established campus safety regulations to help maintain a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment for students, employees, and visitors. These regulations address activities and conduct on university property that are not specifically covered by the university’s parking and traffic regulations.
The University Police Department (UPD) is responsible for enforcing applicable campus safety regulations. These regulations apply to students, employees, visitors, and other individuals while on university property or using university facilities.
Campus safety regulations may address issues such as unreasonable noise, activities that disrupt university operations, misuse of university property, and other conduct that affects the safety, security, or orderly use of the campus.
Violations may result in university citations, fines, referral to the appropriate university office, or other action authorized by university policy or applicable law. Certain conduct may also constitute a violation of state or local law and may be addressed accordingly.
All individuals on university property are expected to comply with posted regulations and reasonable instructions from university officials and UPD officers. Regulations are enforced as necessary to promote a safe and productive campus environment.
Regulation Descriptions
Unreasonable Noise
Noise that disrupts classes, meetings, university offices, residence halls, studying, or authorized campus activities is prohibited.
Speakers, amplifiers, musical instruments, televisions, or similar devices cannot be operated at a volume that unreasonably disturbs others, particularly between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
Vehicle sound systems cannot be operated at a level that is plainly audible from 30 feet or more away.
Unnecessary engine revving, tire spinning, repeated horn use, or operating a vehicle in another unnecessarily loud or disruptive manner is prohibited.
Continuing to create disruptive noise after being directed by an A&M Texarkana Police Department officer or university official to reduce or stop is prohibited.
Exceptions apply to authorized university events, emergency notifications, public-safety operations, approved construction or maintenance, and other activities authorized by the university.
